Simon Cowell tells Amanda Holden he didn’t know who she was before her marriage to Les Dennis went belly up

Simon Cowell does tend to talk rather a lot of tripe at times, but he does have a point this time. Who actually knew who yogurt-expert Amanda Holden was before she married/cheated on/then divorced Les Dennis?

Non-pant-wearing Si-Co ribbed Holden and left her squirming in her chair as he reckons it was saying ‘I do’ that made her famous.

During an interview with Stephen Mulhern on Britain’s Got More Talent, the, ahem, Panorama-style presenter asked Holden when she first felt famous.

Cowell jumped in with: “Marrying Les?”

Probably wishing she’d thought of something witty and terribly clever to say back, all she could rustle up was: “Oh bog off! I forgot about that though, but probably.”

He added: “That’s when I first heard about you.”

Les just be friends?

Amanda was married to Les for a whopping eight years from 1995 before getting her wrists slapped in 2000 over her affair with Neil Morrissey - then getting divorced in 2003.
