Sarah Harding arrested for 'using mobile while driving then refusing to pull over'

Singer Sarah Harding has been arrested for using her mobile phone while driving... and failing to stop for police.

Girls Aloud star Sarah was spotted talking on the phone while driving on Charing Cross Road in central London â€" but allegedly refused to pull over when an officer flagged her down.

She was stopped minutes later and arrested by officers before being taken to nearby Holborn Police Station.

The pop star, 31, was charged for the two offences and will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court after the incident at 6pm on Thursday.

A source said: “Sarah was driving in a 4x4 when a policeman on a bicycle saw her and tried to make her stop.

“He was trying to flag her down but she carried on a bit down the road where she was pulled over a couple of minutes later.

“She was talking to the police by the side of the road for a while before she was arrested.

“Apparently Sarah was very upset when she was arrested and charged. The offences are pretty serious.”

Drivers who are convicted of using a mobile when driving face a maximum fine of £1,000 and can lose their licences. Failing to stop for police can result in a £5,000 fine.

The incident comes a week after Girls Aloud announced they were splitting for good after completing their successful 10-year reunion tour.

Sarah has had a tumultuous personal life but said recently she felt “200 per cent better’’ after rehab.

She split from DJ fiancé Tom Crane in September 2011 and checked in to a clinic for addiction to sleeping pills and alcohol the following month.

Then she had a violent hotel bust-up with boyfriend Theo De Vries, who she met during her stint in rehab in South Africa.

Last week, speaking about how her life had improved, Sarah said: “I’m 200 per cent better in terms of my inner strength and attitude.

“I’m a lot calmer. I still have my hyper days, b ut I take one day at a time. I have learned from my mistakes.”

She is trying to forge an acting career and starred in Brit flick Run For Your Wife with Denise Van Outen and Danny Dyer.

Enjoying the quiet life, Sarah has moved from London to rural Buckinghamshire with her two dogs. She has built a studio at home and has been making tracks with her new boyfriend, dubstep DJ Mark One.

She said: “I love being in the country and living a quiet life, unlike before.”

Police confirmed the charges and said Sarah had been bailed to appear in court on April 16.
