Boyband JLS last night dramatically announced they were splitting up five years after shooting to fame on X Factor.
It took JLS - Aston Merrygold, Oritsé Williams, J.B. Gill and Marvin Humes â" three months to make the difficult decision to call it a day.
The band have sold more than 10 million records, had five number one singles and sold 1.5 million gig tickets.
But itâs not all bad news for fans because they will do a farewell tour and release a greatest hits album before bowing out.
Aston, who recently appeared on Sky Oneâs Got To Dance as a judge, said: âItâs just that time. We are still best of friends and always will be â" but this is the end.â
Marvin, recently signed up as a Capital FM DJ, added: âItâs an emotional time.
"Thereâs no getting away from that. We have been through so much tog ether.
âBut we have to be mature and look at this decision as a celebration of what we managed to achieve.
âWe never wanted to overstay our welcome.â
Oritsé last night tweeted he couldn't sleep after a late-night gym session - and posted a photo on Instagram.
Â
He added in the band's interview with The Sun: âIâm not going to deny it, Iâm sad. It has been amazing.
"I remember that moment in my bedroom when JLS was just an idea and I was determined to make this dream a reality.â
After forming a band in 2007, they rose to fame a year later when they came second behind winner Alexandra Burke on the X Factor.
They signed with Epic Records in 2009 and their first two singles Beat Again and Everybody in Love both went to number one in the UK.
They won two Brit Awards in 2010 as they became one of the countryâs biggest pop bands, and released a 3D concert film for their 2012 album Eyes Wide Open.
They returned last year with their fourth studio-album, Evolution.
Former boyband frontman Ronan Keating, who was in Boyzone, last night tweeted: âJust heard the news about JLS.
"Wish the boys the best in whatever it is they roll on too. They had a great run.â
