Billy Ray Cyrus doubts whether daughter Miley and fiancé Liam Hemsworth will ever marry

Their engagement isn’t exactly the most straightforward romance in Hollywood.

And after days, weeks and months of rumours alleging the couple have split â€" Miley Cyrus and fiancé Liam Hemsworth have stuck together.

But it’s unlikely the 20-year-old singer will appreciate her dads comments who claimed he’s unsure whether they will eventually marry.

When asked about walking his daughter down the aisle, Billy Ray told ABC News: “'I don't know. I know as I was writing a book, I wanted to keep that particular moment [Miley’s wedding] as open-ended as possible. I didn’t know the answer.”

He later insisted the couple are still “great friends” despite constant reports from the US claiming they are drifting apart.

He added: “They're young , they're kids, the great news is they're great friends, they're really good friends.

“I play it by ear, I know whatever's meant to be that's the way it's going to happen.”

Liam's been keeping quiet lately

It’s not only Miley’s family who are casting doubts of future wedding bells.

Liam's sister-in-law Elsa Pataky shared her doubts about the potential marriage.

She said: “I don’t know. If they get married it would be nice to go.”

Earlier this month, Miley was pictured smoking a suspicious cigarette on the balcony of her hotel room - before bursting into hysteric and fetching giant black sunglasses to cover her eyes.

Her fans posted their concern for the 20-year-old star on Twitter but stood by their idol and sent her positive comments.

If the pictures are innocent then it’s unfortunate timing for Miley who released a collaboration with Snoop Lion (formerly Dogg) this week titled Ashtrays And Heartbreaks.

In the song, Miley’s lyrics include: “Now my buzz is gone, and I need to re-up on reality.”

Last month, Miley promised to quit Twitter - and lasted one day.

She made her return by trashing rumours she'd met up with her ex-boyfriend, Nick Jonas, denying she'd had lunch with him.

A fan called Sam had tweeted that she'd spotted the exes having lunch together at a restaurant near Miley's house, saying: “Miley cyrus was at paty’s with nick Jonas like 10 mins ago. So cool.”

Then, US reports claimed that yes, the former couple had met up, but "it looked like a business meeting, they left separately".

Famous radio friends

The singer immediately got on her Twitter, saying: "I literally haven’t seen Nick Jonas in years. Don’t believe everything you read folks".           

But then, hours later, she deleted the tweet and replaced it with "Look at my profile pic. Look at my finger. Idiots. I couldn’t have ‘ran’ into anyone because I haven’t went to eat out in public in weeks because of the amount of paparazzi outside my house."

We have no idea what's going on in the world of Miley anymore.
