Given his track record it is no great surprise that Katy Perry chose to flee the country on the very night ex-boyfriend (and notorious relationship motor-mouth) John Mayer rocks up on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. But John kept his trap well and truly shut on matters of the heart. Yeah, we were pretty gutted too.
John’s appearance on the show comes after singer Katy reportedly bought historic philanderer John a one way ticket to single town earlier this month. Despite sporting a ruby sparkler on her ring finger last month apparently it dawned on her he wasn’t long term relationship material. You don’t say.
But Katy will be mightily relieved to discover that so far she only has one gobby ex on her hands. John kept it nice and vague saying: "I’m on the same journey as everyone else. Coupling is a tricky thing.
"Listen, it was a very private relationship going in. It was a private relationship during and it’s a private relationship, still.†During? Still? We can’t piece together these clues John!
And on this ‘journey’ of self discovery, John has found that hitting the sauce isn’t the key to happiness. He says: “I'm getting to that age now your body doesn’t just shake everything off and it didn’t help that I really loved, love, loved scotch.

Ah well, Mr Mayer might not be spilling the beans on his broken heart, but he doesn’t really need to. Katy has clearly not been around to advise on headgear. Nothing spells a post relationship funk quite like that hat.
