Only last week we found ourselves seriously reconsidering Gwyneth Paltrow's infamously dull diet after we caught sight of the actress looking pretty darn amazing in her bra .
However, we'll be eating an extra slice of toast for elevenses today after the actress revealed that her strict diet often leaves her and her children with "that specific hunger that comes with avoiding carbs."
Iron Man star Gwynnie gives us an insight into just how joyless extreme her diet is in her new cookbook, It's All Good, revealing that she edits not just her own diet, but also what her children, little Apple and Moses, are allowed to eat.
Whilst other children are filling up on fish fingers, spaghetti hoops and potato smileys, Gwyneth reveals that she regularly cuts carbs and gluten out of her family's diet. And, as anyone who's done the Dukan diet knows, that's no fun at all.
In one of the saddest sentences we've read in a while, Gwyn reveals: "Sometimes when my family is not eating pasta, bread of processed grains like white rice, we're left with that specific hunger that comes from avoiding carbs."
Make that two extra slices of toast. With a side of macaroni cheese.
The actress also confesses that she was forced to reassess her eating habits after she had a bit of a health scare.
She writes: âOne sunny afternoon in London, in the spring of 2011, I thought â" without sounding overly dramatic â" that I was going to die."
Why would you think that sentence was overly dramatic, Gwyn?
She continues: âI had just served lunch in the garden at home... I had a vague feeling that I was going to faint, and I wasnât forming thoughts correctly... I got a searing pain in my head, I couldnât speak, and I felt as if I couldnât breathe. I thought I was having a stroke.â
It turns out she was actually experiencing a migraine and a panic attack - perhaps someone had just offered to take the kids out for a Happy Meal?
Tests later showed that Gwynnie was also severely anaemic and vitamin D deficient, which lead to her cutting coffee, eggs, sugar, shellfish, potatoes, wheat and meat out of her diet.
So all the good stuff, essentially.
