Back in 2009, after South Park made fun of Kanye West's massive ego, Kanye blogged and promised to work on his boastful nature. "I actually have been working on my ego though," he wrote. "I JUST WANNA BE A DOPER PERSON WHICH STARTS WITH ME NOT ALWAYS TELLING PEOPLE HOW DOPE I THINK I AM." Woah! Calm right down, Kanye.
Well, he's back and he's upset about being placed at number seven on MTV's Hottest MC list. The list came out yesterday, and Kanye got on the phone to call a radio station and set the record straight. (As an aside, imagine answering the phone at work and it's an annoyed Kanye wanting to get on air? Terrifying).
"Yeah, number seven bothers me," he told Hot 97. "To me, I feel like in order for them to put me as number seven, they had to bring up things they didn't like. They didn't like the 'Cruel Summer' album, and I'm like, 'That's just [a] compilation.'"
He continued: "I don't know, it's definitely not based on a body of work. It possibly could just be like overall rap MC swag. What happens is, with these type of things... they don't like 'Givenchy' Kanye, they don't like Kanye in a kilt, they don't like Kanye in a relationship."
Kanye went on to say he doesn't actually think he should be number one - saying Lil Wayne is the "number one rapper in the world", adding: ""Yeah, I just think... him and [Jay-Z] and [Eminem] and certain people are just the greatest rappers of all time."
Yes, Kanye, remember your mate Jay-Z? You probably need to say a few nice things about him after you slagged off his verse on Suit Tie the other day.
At the end of the call, he literally just hangs up. No goodbye, 'Ye? The day before the call, Kanye was literally in Paris watching a Givenchy show with Kim Kardashian . It probably doesn't help his er, overall rap MC swag that his reality TV girlfriend Kim has been talking about how much she wants to marry Kanye too.Â
And those naked photoshoots probably don't help either. Never mind, Kanye - better luck next year!
