Frozen out? Christine Bleakley faces huge pay cut or ITV axe after Dancing on Ice final

Frozen out? Christine Bleakley faces huge pay cut or ITV axe after Dancing on Ice final

Christine Bleakley is now skating on thin ice as speculation grows that ITV will axe her after she has hosted this weekend’s Dancing on Ice final.

The star, 34, signed a £4million three-year deal in 2010 which runs out this June.

And ITV insiders say she will be forced to take a huge pay cut or head for the exit after her last hosting role finishes on Sunday.

An ITV source said: “Christine is no longer the golden girl of ITV so a big new golden handcuffs deal is out of the question.

“If she isn’t careful and reasonable in her demands she could be frozen out.”

Christine’s ITV career got off to a bad start when she signed to front £15million breakfast show Daybreak alongside pal Adrian Chiles.

The duo, famed for their chemistry on BBC1’s The One Show, lasted just over a year before they were axed in November 2011.

Daybreak pulled in just 700,000 viewers â€" less than its predecessor GMTV.

Since then Adrian has become ITV’s anchor for all major football matches but Christine has barely been seen.

Insiders insist she has turned down a number of pilots and been “very picky”.

Aside from Dancing on Ice, she has hosted only one-off shows Text Santa and That Dog Can Dance in the past 12 months.

Another TV source said: “If you are spending millions on talent you want them on screen, and aside from a Dancing on Ice series once a year Christine has barely been on ITV. They have not got value for money.”

There are also rumours that popular Holly Willoughby could return to Dancing on Ice if it is recommissioned next year.

Transfer: Christine Bleakley may go abroad with Frank Lampard

Although she currently presents BBC’s The Voice, it comes to the end of a two-year run this year.

Christine, who is engaged to England footballer Frank Lampard, has admitted that her future is uncertain because Frank could sign for a foreign team next season.

In January she said of her TV prospects: “Look, my approach has been to take it day by day and deal with things as they come.”

An ITV spokesman said last night: “Christine will present the final of the current series of Dancing on Ice on Sunday.

“We are in discussion about future projects and hope to see her back on ITV soon.”
