"Figuring out what happened": Justin Bieber rushed to hospital with breathing problems

Pop car crash of the moment Justin Bieber was today recovering after being rushed to hospital suffering from breathing difficulties.

The teen star was performing in front of thousands of fans for the third of three shows at London's O2 Arena last night when he fell ill.

Footage posted on YouTube shows the singer abruptly stop dancing, hold his head in his hands and bend over in pain.

The singer was helped backstage where he was given oxygen by a doctor who advised him to go straight to hospital.

Instead, Justin insisted on finishing the last four songs of his Believe show, returning to the stage after a 20-minute break.

In the meantime his manager Scooter Braun had stepped up to the microphone to explain the situation to the worried crowd.

He said:"Justin got very light of breath, the whole show he's been complaining.

"He's backstage with the EMTs (emergency medical team) and the doctor.

"They're telling him they want him to go and see somebody and find out what's going on with his lungs, he's just told me that in five minutes, if it's OK with you guys, he's going to come out and finish the show.

"So he might not be jumping around as much and everything else, you guys need to be patient with us, we're not trying to be disrespectful, we're not trying to get you guys home late, we're truly trying to put on a show for the people who love him."

After the gig ended, Justin was whisked to an undisclosed London hospital before being released a short time later.

Fans had begun circulating the hashtag "#justintakeabreak" on Twitter after news of his illness spread.

And the 19-year-old alloyed some of the concerns of his 35 million followers by posted that he was "getting better".

Manager Scooter added: "tough kid. proud night. once again he always finishes the show. full out. true pro.

"Now get better and rest up! strange night but proud nt. tough as nails."

Meanwhile on Instagram, Justin posted two photos - one of him lying shirtless on a hospital bed, the other of a dark corridor.

A source close to the star said he was "just very tired from a long week" and was in hospital "for precautionary reasons".

An official spokeswoman said he had not been suffering from any health issues prior to the show.

Fashion choice? Second time Bieber has worn a gas mask while in London

On Wednesday night he was pictured out and about in London wearing a gas mask for the second time in a week.

Earlier this week he sparked controversy by turning up on stage after 10pm â€" nearly two hours later than planned â€" forcing young fans and parents to leave early.

He later blamed technical difficulties and tweeted an angry response to his critics who he accused of “exaggerating”.

Bieber has collapsed on stage before, suffering concussion in Paris last June after falling into a glass wall.
