Justin Bieber planning secret date with ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez

It has been quite a week for poor* Justin Bieber.

But as the teen singer travels to Lisbon for the next instalment of his world tour, he is also heading for behind-closed-doors showdown talks with his ex, Selena Gomez.

At the behest of both management and his mum â€" well, he is only 19 â€" the Canadian star has secretly been in touch with his former girlfriend of two years.

While the Disney princess, 20, is understood to be less than enthused about a reconciliation, Justin’s team of advisers are thought to be desperate for her to be back in his life.

The duo started speaking after finding themselves in similar time zones â€" JB on his Believe tour, Selena in Paris and then Milan promoting new film, Spring Breakers.

A source said: “Selena is incredibly grounded and very mature for one so young. She was a superb, calming influence on Justin and didn’t stand for any of his nonsense. She is also just as big a star as him which meant there was no ego with either of them.

“His mum, Pattie, has been instrumental in trying to reunite the pair and told Justin to reach out. With all the trouble he’s been having of late, Selena was one of the first to get in touch and offer her support. The hope is that they will meet up somewhere quiet within the next three weeks. Both have use of a private jet so distance isn’t a problem.”

Indeed, following reports Justin had fallen out with Pattie after she used his image to publicise her autobiography, it appears mother and son have patched-up their differences.

Ahead of Mother’s Day, Justin took to Twitter, with this message: “u raised your boy right. not perfect but i’m trying. love u”

News of developments in his private life come just days after the star arrived two hours late for his show at London’s O2 arena.

On Thursday night, he suffered breathing difficulties on stage and, the following day, swore at a photographer, threatening to beat him up.
