Paul McKenna reveals he hasn't spoken to Derren Brown for years over 'cheeky dig'

Hypnotist Paul McKenna has revealed a rift with TV illusionist Derren Brown â€" and said the pair have not spoken for years.

During his early career, Brown, 42, was an avid follower of McKenna and even went to masterclasses to see him perform.

Speaking at an event in South West London, McKenna, 49, said: “We used to be friends but we don’t see each other very much.

“It was something he said. We did not fall out... but it was a cheeky dig.”

He admitted: “We have not spoken for a few years.”

It is not known what upset McKenna but in 2005 Brown told Nuts magazine Little Britain hypnotist character Kenny Craig, with his catchphrase, “Look into my eyes, not around the eyes”, was based on McKenna.

Brown said: “I’ve done a lot of stage hypnotism and the people who do it are quite creepy.

"Apparently it’s based on Paul McKenna, not me.”
