Michael Jackson's doctors competed to give him danger drugs: Debbie Rowe breaks down at wrongful death trial

Singer Michael Jackson’s ex-wife Debbie Rowe yesterday broke down in tears as she accused the star’s doctors of trying to outdo each other to supply him with the best painkillers.

Emotional Debbie, 54, also showed her contempt for Jackson’s personal medic, Dr Conrad Murray, as she told the jury he had “killed” the pop star. She wiped away tears as she recalled doctors competing in the 90s over Jackson’s medication.

She said: “Michael had very little pain tolerance and his fear of it was incredible. I think the doctors took advantage of him. If someone says they are the best at what they do, and another claims they are the best, who do you listen to?

“The doctors were competing with each other and I was concerned.”

Lawyers then asked her if Michael’s personal doctor had been Dr Allan Metzger? Debbie replied: “Yes â€" then Conrad Murray got in there and killed him.”

Debbie told Los Angeles Superior Court how her relationship with Jackson went from professional to personal, culminating in their three-year marriage from 1996 to 1999.

She met Jackson while working as a nurse in a dermatology office in which the singer was a patient. She is the mother of Prince and Paris Jackson and currently lives on a horse farm in Palmdale, California.

The couple wed in 1996 and divorced three years later, with Rowe giving Jackson custodial rights of the two children.

In 2005, she came to her ex-husband’s aid during his child molestation trial, testifying that he was a supporting and loving father. He was later acquitted of all charges.

She was appearing yesterday in the case brought by the Jackson family claiming AEG Live negligently hired Dr Murray. AEG denies wrongdoing and says Jackson hired Murray in 2006 as his personal doctor.

Murray was found guilty in 2011 of involuntary manslaughter over Jackson’s death in June, 2009 and is serving four years.
