Kim Kardashian takes North West to Kanye's grandfather's funeral

Reality star Kim was a surprise no-show at her sister Kylie Jenner's massive sweet 16 birthday party this weekend, but she had good reason to give the bash a miss: she was on girlfriend duty at Kanye West's grandfather's funeral.

The couple reportedly took along their two month old daughter North to Oklahoma to pay their respects to the awesomely named Portwood Williams Sr.

Portwood Williams Sr. (this name deserves to be written out in full every time) passed away on August 10, a fortnight after his 98th birthday.

A source told People magazine: "That's why they weren't at Kylie's birthday. They bought North too. Her first trip."

Portwood Williams Sr. had previously said of Kim, "she's just as sweet as she is beautiful. That's what I liked about her!"

Kim missed one hell of a big fat party though. Put every single party from the telly programme My Super Sweet 16 together, multiply them by a zillion and add a trailer-load of hair extensions. Only then will you have a whiff of the general scale of Kylie's party.

It took place at the ATT Center in LA and Drake and Big Sean performed, which will have gained her extraordinary cool points with her red lippy pals. (Do they still give out cool points? They did at our 16th when we took everyone to Chessington World of Adventures and stormed the bubble ride. Great times.)

Kylie's elder sister, Kendall Jenner, was there, as was Khloe...who arrived without husband Lamar Odom. They're in the midst of battling through cheating rumours - but they're not the only Kardashian Klan kouple having problems. Kourtney and Scott Disick arrived together, but didn't look exactly cheery after their paternity test this week .

And to top that off, matriarch extraordinaire Kris Jenner arrived separately from husband Bruce.

Awkward.

Kim wasn't having too sad a time though as she did post an Instagram pic of herself with the founder of...Instagram. As you do.
