Justin Bieber accused of being "insensitive to the memory of Anne Frank" after controversial comment in museum guestbook

Justin Bieber has been accused of being "insensitive to the memory of Anne Frank" after leaving a controversial message in the iconic museum's guestbook.

The angry little Canadian singer recently visited the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, which was revealed in an update posted on the official Facebook feed of the museum.

They said: "[Justin] stayed more than an hour in the museum. In our guestbook he wrote: ‘Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber.’"

Yep. Justin went to the see the home of the young Holocaust victim and diarist, and wrote about himself in the guestbook.

We're trying to think of an excuse that might make this sound better but we're really struggling.

A representative for Anne Frank Trust UK commented today: “Anne Frank was a typical teenager who was interested in popular culture including music and film stars of the day.

“She closely followed what those stars said and did.”

Gillian Walnes, Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Trust continued: “Justin Bieber’s visit to the Anne Frank House has undoubtedly introduced Anne, her story and her diary to a new audience.

“Unfortunately, his message was insensitive to the memory of Anne, but we hope that the visit has had a positive impact on him.”

Maybe he can blame it on this new hairstyle

In case you didn't study it at school, or it's been a heavy weekend, Anne Frank’s diary is an account of her and her family's life in hiding in Nazi-occupied Europe.

The family was betrayed and Anne died aged 15 in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, shortly before it was liberated by the British.

The comment by the 19-year-old pop star, who is currently on the European leg of his Believe tour, has been criticised in subsequent posts from members of the public, describing it as “immature and disgusting".

One of the comments slammed Justin's entry for being “shallow and self-serving. He obviously has no clue what a solemn opportunity he had in visiting The House.”

Oh dear. With monkey gate and his recent dalliance with Playboy bunnies , things aren't going that well for the Biebs publicity machine.

Actually, they haven't been going that well for quite some time.

Have a look at the timeline of Justin's rise and fall .
