Britain's Got Talent's Ant McPartlin's life flashes before his eyes as he takes part in terrifying audition act

Britain's Got Talent host Ant McPartlin is left terrified during Saturday's show as he takes part in a daring magic act involving a sharp Samurai sword.

The star, who presents the talent contest alongside Declan Donnelly, was standing in the wings at auditions as he watched silent magician Aaron Crow take to the stage as the auditionee refuses to speak to the judges and pours candle wax into his eyes while standing alongside a number of sharp objects.

Aaron takes out a menacing-looking Samurai sword before asking members of the audience to take part in the act.

Ant says: "You wouldn't get up and do that, would you? If he's walked up to you with a Samurai sword."

Dec responds: "You're not going to turn him down either though, are you?"

But little does Ant know he is momentarily about to be pulled on stage as he nervously says: "Really, me? Not the other one?"

A still silent Aaron then approaches Ant with the sword after wrapping his head in foil to ensure he can't see before bringing the sword down towards Ant's head to chop a pineapple which is balanced on top.

Following his experience, Ant says: "I was genuinely terrified as Aaron was coming towards me. All credit to Aaron though, it was an incredible act. Everyone was on the edge of their seats."

Dec jokingly adds: "I have to admit I'm glad I wasn't on that stage! Watching Ant from the wings was pretty nerve wracking. I mean, if anything had gone wrong it would have been the end of our career."

But despite the apparent danger involved in magician Aaron's performance, judge Simon Cowell was delighted to have watched.

After, he says: "That's a great act. I love the idea of watching something where there is a possibility that someone actually could actually die, and the fact t hat it was Ant made it more exciting, I've got to be honest with you.

"Can I ask you a question? If you were to make it to the next stage would you be willing to put [fellow judge] David [Walliams] on stage, in that situation, with something slightly smaller than a pineapple?"
