After today's soap star culling news, EastEnders could do with a few more faces around to freshen up E20 - and give ratings a much-needed boost.

Even old faves like Barbara Windsor have been putting the boot into the ailing BBC1 soap, saying it was "a bit of a state" before her one-off return last Friday.

So, instead of bringing back familiar faces like Babs, why not parachute in a few wild cards to add a little more poke?

A new family could certainly add momentum. Or maybe a few TOWIE types could be bussed over from nearby Essex for a little added glam rather than the usual Albert Square gloom?
