Gwyneth Paltrow has talked about the highs and lows of childbirth and admitted she would like a third baby with singer Chris Martin.
The Hollywood star, 40, already has two children with the Coldplay singer and has admitted they have would like a third. But her last baby caused extreme depression.
In an interview in Australia, Gwyneth said: âChris and I would love a third child, but I donât know if I could start changing nappies again.
âAlso when my son was born I had terrible depression.
âIt was strange because with my eldest it didnât happen. I was super-happy.
âBut with Moses it took me a year to get out of a hole.â
This is the second time this year Gwyneth has spoken openly about her family life.
In April she discussed in People magazine the impact of suffering a miscarriage and having to work hard at her marriage to Chris.
Â
âIt was awful,â she said when asked about the miscarriage. âIt happened really late, and I wasnât expecting it at all.
âFor a long time I just couldnât understand that it had happened and why. I was like âBut I canât not be pregnant. Iâm already past the first trimester, and I have three car seats in my head.â
âTo this day I feel like Iâm missing that kid. But it wasnât meant to be and you have to trust the universe.â
The star said the miscarriage made her grateful for the positive things in her life, especially her two children - eight-year-old Apple and Moses, seven.
Gwyneth admitted that the famous couple, who are rarely pictured together, have had their fair share of ups and downs.
âWeâve gone through some terrible times where itâs been really really hard, but Iâve sort of come through those times with a much deeper understanding of myself.
âAnd weâre still married. We worked through it. I th ink itâs easier to get divorced. But I think the more you keep at it, the more you end up seeing the value in it. But man, sometimes it is not easy.â
Â
In the new interview with Australiaâs Marie Claire, Gwyneth said parenting did not get easier.
âLast night, I was talking about that with my husband: it gets more complicated. The problems are getting more serious and I notice that they need me more now than even when they were very little. My daughter, for example, who is super-intelligent, asks me [tough] questions! I feel I have to constantly be by her side.â
She also gave her advice for staying youthful, saying: âI have turned 40 and I want to preserve my youth, or to put it another way, to be my best in my 40s.
âI use soap water and moisturiser at the end of the day.
âI really believe in a hot washcloth at the end of the day.
âI also believe that sleep, eating well and exercise is what keeps you having a good skin tone.
âWhen I cut out alcohol, coffee, processed foods, anything friend, white flour and white rice for a few weeks, I can see the difference.â
