Simon Cowell set to agree new X Factor deal with ITV

Simon Cowell is on the verge of agreeing a new X Factor deal with ITV.

The next series was rumoured to be the last ever, but channel boss Adam Crozier said: “It is going to be around for quite some time.

“It remains a very important programme for ITV.”

But he admitted: “We’ve got to make sure we improve it and get it right.

“Funnily enough, we did the same with I’m A ­Celebrity, which dipped a little bit two years ago, and it has been back stronger than ever.

"It is perfectly possible to do it. All these shows need a bit of love and attention and for things to change to keep people interested.”

Mr Crozier also hinted that ITV will create a new channel soon â€" and may even charge viewers.

He said: “I think there are other potential ­channels we could do, both free and pay-for.”
