Normally we're a fan of Salma Hayek. Mainly because of her awesome boob/face combo which we pretty much can't stop staring at whenever she's on screen for whatever reason other than the boobs/face thing.
But we're not so keen on her latest foot-in-very-pretty-mouth comments about the 50lbs she gained while pregnant with her daughter Valentina, to her billionaire husband Francois-Henri Pinault.
In a new interview with magazine Glam Belleza Latina, the actress said: "I gained so much weight, I got an opportunity to see myself completely disfigured in many different ways - for a very good reason - and I donât regret it for a second. Thatâs when I started appreciating my body. The things that I used to criticize, they were not that bad after all."
Riiight. Of course, it's not that 50lbs isn't a fair bit to put on, and we can see that that would change your general body shape. But disfigured is a pretty strong word. How about lovely and cuddly Salma? Or cutely cushiony? And you haven't even talked about the impact the weight gain had on your boobs. They must have been even more impressive. Like, seriously.
Still, the actress - who has spoken about her weight battles before - did at least try to claw it back a tiny bit by talking about the pressures on women in terms of body image, saying: "We've got to fight for our confidence every day in modern life because we live in a society that is very harsh to women. You have to be smart and successful and a good mother and beautiful and young and skinny forever." Hmmm - like a society that calls women who have put on weight 'disfigured'? Oh dear.
We're just going to hope that Salma was just having one of those 'words you don't actually mean falling out of your mouth' moments. And go back to think about her lovely boobs/face. Mmmm, lovely Salma's boobs/face.
