Carrey is a staunch gun control advocate. He finished the film on November 23 last year, just weeks before the Sandy Hook Elementary school tragedy, in which 28 people in total were killed by gunman Adam Lanza in America.
The new trailer for the film features many scenes of disturbing violence from its opening seconds.
Fans see Hit Girl bash Dave Lizweski into a pulp, before joking: âOh take your tampon out Dave?â
Carrey is introduced as Colonel Stars And Stripes, who jabs a bouncer in the throat, before smashing him in the head with a sledgehammer handle. He then boasts: âWe try to have fun...otherwise what is the point?â
In another scene he smashes a glass into a villainâs face by hitting it with the handle besides his head.
ÂI meant to say my apologies to others involve with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.

Another violent flashpoint sees one of Kick Assâ rivals firing two guns at a cashier and even blowing a car with several people inside.
Fans of the actor seemed split on his proclamation, with one saying: âItâs a movie. A fun, violent movie. If there was no violence on TV there might be more in real life."
Some fans even called on the star to give away his salary to 'prove his sincerity'.
Another said: âVery brave to come out with that, I hope you get that support from the film industry, most are good understanding people.â
Carrey stars alongside Aaron Johnson and Chloe Grace Moretz in the sequel of the movie, which proved a huge hit in 2010.
It is due for release in the UK on August 14.
