'Unfortunately, personal lives are having an effect on professional lives': Jessica Wright and Ricky Rayment dismiss possibility of rifts in TOWIE cast

Jessica Wright and Ricky Rayment have brushed off the possibility that the controversy surrounding TOWIE co-star Mario Falcone’s Twitter meltdown suggesting that the show is “scripted” is straining relations within the cast.

Speaking at the TRIC Awards in London, Ricky insisted that his fellow reality show stars are held together by strong bonds â€" and even if there were departures as a result of last week’s ructions, the cast would “ignore it” and get on with the job.

“We’re such a tight group that if one or two people leave we just stick together and ignore it,” said the 22-year-old.

“To be honest with you, it’s nothing to do with us â€" we’re quite happy with what we’re doing.”

And while girlfriend Jess sympathised that smoothy Mario may be feeling the pressure after tweeting “producers are still lying to you all” to his near-million followers, she regretted that any personal issues were affecting his work.

She said: “Unfortunately, people’s personal lives are having an effect on their professional lives.

“With Lucy [Mecklenburgh] and Mario, they’ve been going through a bit of a rough patch.

“The accusations on TOWIE… whether they’re true or not, it’s going to get to you.

“It’s a reality show so you’re not acting, it’s your personal life.

However, Ricky did concede that so many big personalities could lead to clashes.

“You’ve got to think, if you put thirty people together in a room that know each other, someone’s going to argue, something’s going to go off,” he said.

Jessica concurred: “Personalities clash, I think that’s what’s happened with TOWIE. But that’s why people love it.”

Sympathy: "The accusations on TOWIE… whether they’re true or not, it’s going to get to you"

On hand to present Keith Lemon with Celebrity Juice award for best satellite/digital programme, the couple made it clear that they saw no point in stirring up trouble for the show that has brought them ITV2 fame.

“For my part I would never do anything controversial because TOWIE is where our bread and butter is â€" it’s given us the amazing future we’ve got, and our careers,” stressed Jess, 25.

“I’m a controversial character myself,” added Ricky. “But I never bite the hands that feed me.”

“But we haven’t got any need to. We’ve had a great run,” said Jessica.
