Beyonce unveils new music and is accused of ‘unnecessary swearing’ and being ‘offensive to women’

There’s nothing like sparking a bit of controversy when making a long-awaited comeback, is there?

Beyonce is accused of ‘unnecessary swearing’ and being ‘offensive to women’ in new music unveiled last night.

The singer posted the tune entitled Bow Down / I Been On on her website with picture of herself as a child posing in a room full of trophies â€" as you do.

But the lyrics have divided fans between those who are fangirling so much it could be a five-minute clip of her doing an impression of Crazy Frog and they would love it, and then others who think it’s outright offensive.

The hook for the three minute, 43 second track is: “I know when you were little girls you dreamt of being in my world. Don’t forget it. Respect that. Bow Down b******.”

In the song, Beyonce, 31, adds: "I took my time to live my life b ut don’t think I’m just his little wife. Don’t get it twisted this is my sh*t."

Beyonce has taken a two year break from music since her last album ‘4’ and has been busy with motherhood looking after daughter Blue Ivy.

But her return hasn’t been greeted with strictly positive comments from fans.

One listener wrote on Twitter: ‘This song makes no sense, is randomly offensive, and is way out of Beyonce's lane.’

Another added: ‘how can u sing at the presidents inauguration then release this disgusting, offensive song Beyonce? I'm genuinely shocked.’

A separate comment read: ‘The new Beyonce song is horrid. Unnecessary swearing, offensive misogynistic referencing of women, and terrible music and vocals. 0/1000.’

While one sniped: ‘So much for female empowerment.’

And Radio1 DJ Scott Mills said on Twitter: ‘Is that Beyonce song a joke?’

The song appears to be split between two different tracks. Bow Down is believed to have been produced by Hit-Boy â€" who featured in Britney Spears and Will.i.am's remix of Scream Shout â€" and Bey teamed up with Timbaland on I Been On.

But her die-hard fans supported her new change in music style.

‘WOW how amazing is this new Beyonce single!! Bow down to Queen Bey,’ tweeted a fan.

A different user wrote: ‘Just heard Beyonce's new song. I feel so bad for every other artist in the game. There is no competition. She reigns supreme.'

The sample from her O2 Priority promo video can also be heard on the new clip.
