Takeaway USA: Ant and Dec want to crack America with their hit show Saturday Night Takeaway

Ant and Dec are aiming to crack America with their hit ITV show Saturday Night Takeaway, the Sunday People can reveal.

The Geordie duo have revealed they want to cross the Atlantic â€" five years after their last bid for the US big-time flopped.

They were devastated in 2008 when their show Wanna Bet? was axed by US network ABC after completing a series.

Ant, 37, said: “We want to take Takeaway to the States as we think it’s a great show.

“We think it would be brilliant for the American audience. It could be great.

“It’s the right time to give it a crack. USA Takeaway should work so it’s something we think it would be really good to do and make happen.”

With a prime 7pm slot, Takeaway is watched by an estimated 7.5 million fans in the UK.

Dec, 37, said of last night’s show in which they teased One Direction: “Good job the band have a sense of humour.”
