A restraining order stops Mel B from going on Australia's Got Talent

So on telly Down Under, both The X Factor and Australia's Got Talent were both on Channel Seven UNTIL last year when rival station 'Nine', bought AGT.

Mel B has been announced as a judge on Aussie X Factor again this year, along with Dannii Minogue (obvs) and Dawn French (amazing!) and also a 'musician and dancer' called Timomatic. Nope, us neither.

So Channel Seven (who show The X Factor, with Mel, are you keeping up?) were very annoyed when Channel Nine announced last week that Mel was joining the judging panel of their new version of Australia's Got Talent.

So annoyed in fact that they've commenced legal proceedings in the Supreme Court of NSW to protect what they're calling their 'exclusive contractual arrangements' with Mel B.

Imagine if the BBC suddenly bought Britain's Got Talent off ITV and then signed up Louis Walsh to be on it too. But y'know, worse.

Today the court made temporary orders restraining the artist formerly known as Scary Spice from agreeing to appear on television for anyone other than Seven until January 2014.

The court also ordered her husband Stephen Belafonte against "assisting, inducing or otherwise procuring (Brown)” to enter into a deal with any network other than Channel 7.

"As the matter is before the courts, it would not be appropriate to comment further at this stage," a Seven spokesman said.

A few days ago, Mel had been wanging on about how excited she is to be on AGT, calling it "a great opportunity to continue to spend time in Australia and discover more of the exceptional talent you have an abundance of."

"I'm having a wonderful time," she said. "I can't wait to join Australia's Got Talent. I know we will have a blast, and I'm sure some fireworks as well.”

We're guessing a legal battle isn't exactly the kind of fireworks Mel had in mind.

Channel Nine also has success Down Under with The Voice. Which is more than can be said for the BBC.

Meanwhile Simon Cowell's been on a weird Twitter ramble about changes to the UK X Factor. Well maybe Mel B will have some free time on her hands now?

Unlike her former band mate Posh who's buying a SPAR . Not a typo.

Melanie is currently a judge on America's Got Talent. Greedy or what?
