Angelina Jolie thanks fans for their support after double mastectomy

In her first public appearance since having a double mastectomy, stunning Angelina Jolie revealed: “I feel great!”

The 37-year-old actress thanked fans for their support as she wowed at the London premiere of her husband’s new movie yesterday.

Speaking about Brad Pitt, star of World War Z, beaming Angelina said: “He’s a wonderful man and father. He’s been extraordinary. I’m very, very lucky.”

Clutching a teddy bear given to her by a young admirer, Angelina passed the toy on to a little girl â€" who burst into tears. Comforting the youngster, Angelina soothed: “But it’s a nice teddy.”

Last month, the star revealed she had undergone surgery to remove both her breasts, after discovering she had a high risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer.

The disease killed her mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand, at the age of 56 in 2007.

Angelina said: “I feel great. I am very moved and grateful for all the support. I have been very happy to see the discussion about women’s health expanded.”

Brad, 49, said: “I was so proud of her before this. This is who she is. She’s going to face it head on and find out what her options are.

“I always want her by my side â€" it’s more fun when she’s around.”
