They've been co-stars for four years and a real-life couple for three, but Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder won't be having sexy half-vampire babies any time soon.
The actors, who play Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore on the show, have confirmed they've called their relationship a day but have vowed to continue working together as normal.
Uh-oh, we sense some awkward tension round the catering tent.
Although there's a ten year age gap - Ian is 34 and Nina is 24 - the pair got together back in 2010 despite trying to remain professional.
Nina told Seventeen magazine:
"Sometimes you can't help who you have a connection with, and you can only fight it for so long."
Yeah, if we worked with Ian we wouldn't be able to fight the urge to jump him either.
"I didn't want to be dating one of my co-stars - my goal on the show was to be professional," said Nina.
And while she's since remained tight-li pped on the split, Ian's taken to Twitter to get a bit cryptic.
The Vampire Diaries hottie tweeted:
"A THOUGHT FOR TODAY: People change and forget to tell each other. - Lillian Hellman, playwright (1905-1984)."
Oooh we love it when celebs get deep on Twitter and post really meaningful quotes.
We're pretty happy that Ian's single again.
