If we go out with a hat/scarf/bag on our heads to disguise the fact we haven't washed our hair for three days we don't get credited for creating a new look. But then there aren't a crowd of paps around to capture the moment and if there were, they'd be very disappointed to get a shot of some lank-haired civilian.
When Badgalriri does it though, it's front page news - and to be fair, with her brightly coloured headscarf and her split, full-length evening gown, she's hardly trying not to attract attention. Maybe Chris Brown really likes it when she skips showering?
The singer was leaving her New York hotel to go to a photoshoot (we're assuming she was going to get her hair and make up done there) when she was papped in the scarf, which is being hailed as more 'old Hollywood' than 'necessary hider of greasy locks'.
She opted to accessorise this look with some round Chanel sunglasses (which were more Willy Wonka than anything else) some gold jewellery, a nice red leather bag, and some unusually sensible two-tone flats which our mums would totally approve of.
It's not the first semi-awks fashion moment Riri's had this week - the other day she revealed a behind-the-scenes-video where she mumbled in a not overly confident manner about her River Island range. "I just wanted stuff that I wanted to wear because at the end of the day that's what got me into designing - seeing things on the rack that were great, but that could have been a little more me. Maybe they could have been a little longer or shorter, or have a little more sex appeal or a little less. I wanted to make clothes for fat days. Stuff that I wanted to wear. I was being selfish. Hopefully, my friends and people who shop at River Island will have the same taste."
Which means teaming head scarves with full-length ev ening gowns we guess. Um - can we get back to you on that Riri/River Island?
Anyway. Thanks for making us feel good about our hair today Riri! Maybe you're not such a badgal after all.
