Xtra Factor Caroline Flack reveals she had therapy to cope with break up

Xtra Factor presenter Caroline Flack has revealed she went into therapy after the end of a long-term relationship.

The bubbly 33-year-old â€" who dated One Direction star Harry Styles â€" got professional counselling to ease her heartbreak.

And Caroline says it’s now turned her life around and she’s happier than ever.

She was treated with Neuro-Linguistic Programming, which helps patients look at how they address stressful situations.

Comedian Russell Brand said the therapy saved his life and Cheryl Cole reportedly used it to help rebuild her self esteem after being dropped from US X Factor.

Caroline said: “Sometimes you get caught up in your own mind â€" especially in this job â€" and you just need someone to snap you out of it and go ‘Come on!’

“The therapy was following a long term relationship and normal life stress that everyone deals with in any profession."

"Talking to someone just helps as a problem shared is a problem halved. I loved it and to be honest it got me through quite a lot.”

Caroline dated One Direction heart-throb Harry â€" who was 17 at the time â€" from October 2011 to February last year but is over their split now.

She began presenting the ITV2 X-Factor spin-off Xtra Factor in 2011 and says she has a much more positive outlook on life since her therapy.

She continued: “You have your down days and your up day s so something like NLP definitely helps. I’m very happy now.”

She still has her teary moments on the show â€" but they’re down to the heartfelt performances of the budding popstars.

She added: “I’m quite an emotional person and I get emotional about people.

“I have cried a lot this year â€" but I’m quite a crier when it comes to sad songs and stories at the auditions.”
