Miley Cyrus talks about her MTV VMAs twerking scandal for the first time

Miley Cyrus talks about her MTV VMAs twerking scandal for the first time

Miley Cyrus is finally talking about the massive reaction to The Twerk That Changed The World (that's what we're calling it now) and she's er, not sorry at all that you were all offended by her waving her latex-clad bum at Robin Thicke.

"I don't pay attention to the negative because I've seen this play out so many times," the singer says in a new video on MTV.com. "How many times have we seen this play out in pop music? Madonna's done it. Britney's done it. Every VMA performance, that's what you're looking for; you're wanting to make history."

Yes, that's right - she was hoping to twerk herself into history, just like Madonna performing Like A Virgin in 1984. "Me and Robin the whole time said, 'You know we're about to make history right now,'" Miley claims. "What's amazing is I think now, we're three days later [when the interview was done] and people are still talking about it."

"Making history"

Hooray! Or er, not. But Miley isn't fussed. "They're overthinking it," she says. "You're thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it. Like, I didn't even think about it 'cause that's just me!"

Clearly she didn't think about it - everyone from celebrities to media commentators were either shocked or just a bit grossed out by her twerking performance that also saw her grope married Robin Thicke with a foam hand. At least Gaga liked it ...

Miley even left the awards early - reportedly because she realised she'd gone a bit far - but she doesn't sound too sorry about her twerking here.

Oh well, she's just being Miley, eh? The chat is part of a longer documentary that MTV have made - it's just a teaser for now.
