It all got too much for Zayn Malik, who had to walk out of a band press conference in Tokyo to be sick

When in Japan, do as the Japanese do â€" but not if it makes you ill.

The One Direction boys are currently continuing their world domination in Tokyo, where they have been singing karaoke, playing with robots and eating sushi.

But it all got too much for Zayn Malik, who had to walk out of a band press conference to be sick.

Probs best to stay off the sashimi, boys.

The quintet were announcing an extra two Japanese dates on their world tour later this year.

But halfway through the session, a queasy-looking Zayn, 20, ran off stage and left his four bandmates looking bemused.

I’m told: “He had been rubbing his tummy throughout proceedings, then suddenly, he took a deep breath and dashed off stage because he felt so unwell.

“The others were all looking around concerned for a while, then Niall checked with management to see if he was OK.

They moved up to take his seat away so it didn’t look too weird, while Zayn went back to his hotel to recover.”

The poor love.

But it might have been something to do with the previous night’s dinner of a platter of raw fish (thanks for the photo, Niall Horan) or the fact the boys were out singing their favourite karaoke classics.

“We had a great night, it was loadsa fun,” spilled Liam Payne, 19.

“We sang lots of songs, in particular some Jay-Z, there was a 50 Cent number, the Baha Men...” All the classics.

Harry Styles, 18, added: “Islands in the Stream made another appearance.”

(He once sang that with ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift â€" wail!) “I Want it That Way, As Long as You Love Me was in there, I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing...” he went on.

There’s a message in there, Taylor.

Before he got sick, Zayn spent three hours in his hotel room building a robot he’d bought.

At least he’s got something to play with.

Zayn made it along to another interview later that day, the little trouper, where Harry declared: “I hate raw fish.”
