Will this be the final word in the on-going spat? We're watching James' Twitter account with bated breath...
Love and peace may have topped Matt Cardle's list of New Year's resolutions after the former X Factor winner managed to say something vaguely nice about James Arthur .
Appearing on the telly yesterday, Matt called James "brilliant" and even said he'd like to go for a drink with his fellow X Factor champ.
The pair have been taking digs at one another ever since James won last year's series of the singing talent show in December, but it looks as though Matt's finally ready to bury the hatchet in 2013.
"Look, he said something offensive to me," Cardle told the Loose Women ladies.
"[He said] that [previous X Factor winners] had written bad albums and that's fair enough, he's entitled to an opinion but we're talking about some brilliant song writers that I wrote the songs with," Matt explained.
"I gave him some friendly advice to try and keep your mouth shut a little bit."
But here comes the metaphorical offering of the olive branch! Matt then said: "I think he's brilliant. I think James is a very, very talented man, I'm sure he'll go very far."
And when asked if the pair had kissed and made up, Matt said: "We haven't been for a pint yet [but] I'd love to go for a pint with him."
Ooh, can we come too?
The whole spat first kicked off after James said: "The blokes that have won [The X Factor] before have had a niche, they haven't sold records because they haven't made great albums. That's the bottom line."
A comment that Matt didn't really take too kindly to.
Matt quickly responded , saying: "I said, 'Look, James, you're very talented but you haven't sold two million records yet, which I have.'
"You haven't had two top ten albums yet, which I've had. Don't start mouthing off before you've even really left the show.
"I doubt he's even listened to my albums. It's a shame and I hope it doesn't do him too much damage.

"Not only has he offended me but he's offended every other person that's won the X Factor and everyone who works or has written on these albums."
"That's some of the best songwriters in the world - all these people - and he's now rubbished their work. So it's a pretty s*** thing for him to have said."
"If he hasn't 'compromised' himself one iota then I think he's lying. Everybody makes compromises all through their life and especially on something like X Factor."
You'd think at this point that James might have said he was sorry and put the whole thing to bed. But where's the fun in that?
Instead he followed up with a thinly-veiled dig at Matt on Twitter.
"2 million returned and now live in the bargain bin at asda" he posted, before adding: "Give it up the tunes are brutal... desperation for press is embarrassing."
He then moved on to himself, saying: "Platinum single baby! Not a bad start :) thanks to all who bought it now make sure the hillsbrough tune is number 1!! #LOVE,", referring to the Justice Collective charity single supporting the families of those involved in the disaster." Way to rub it in.
And then:Â "Jealousy is a weak emotion.. Learnt that in the real world where I lived for quite some time.."
We look forward to seeing his response to Matt's nice words. And to seeing them clinking pint glasses in the pub.
