The much-hyped Freddie Mercury film is in disarray after Sacha Baron Cohen walked out.
Sacha, 41, who was due to play the Queen frontman, quit after âcreative differencesâ with band members Brian May and Roger Taylor.
According to reports, the actor wanted the film to be a âgritty tell-allâ about the rock group â" whose fourth album A Night at the Opera was the most expensive album ever recorded at the time â" but Brian, 66, and Roger didnât share his vision.
Guitarist Brian, 63, previously hinted at tensions, saying there were âhiccups... to do with people getting on artistically and personallyâ.
Â
The movie focuses on the years leading up to the bandâs performance at Live Aid in 1985.
Proposed screenwriter Peter Morgan, who penned the script for Frost/Nixon, said there were âissuesâ with the big-budget production, which has been in the pipeline since 2010.
He said: âThe other band members didnât want to be involved in a film that was just about Freddie.
âQueen are sensitive about the film and me writing it because it will expose some of the resentments and divisions in the band.â
Sachaâs departure is seen as a big blow, particularly because of his similarity in looks to Freddie, who died in 1991, as well as his singing ability.
