This time last year, we were basking in the glory of Katy Perry and Rihanna's beautiful relationship - they always looked as if they couldn't have been more delighted to be sharing the same air - hugging, kissing and cracking private jokes all over the place. Two gorgeous pop princesses coming together to create one glorious showbiz union? It seemed too good to be true.
Because it was. After two years of friendship, it's pretty clear that the pair have fallen out.
After always sitting together at awards ceremonies, US Magazine claimed that Katy requested to sit away from Rihanna at the Grammys on Sunday - because she went along with boyfriend Chris Brown. While Rihanna and Chris snuggled up on one side, Katy and John Meyer were at the opposite end of the room.
Unsurprisingly, Chris Brown is said to be the reason why Katy and Rihanna have fallen out, with the pair last seen together just before Rihanna and Chris got back together.          Â
Their most recent photo together was at the MTV VMAs in September, with the girls sitting along the front row, cuddling and laughing. But that night, RiRi went public with Chris and gave him a big kiss in the audience.
Shortly afterwards, Katy gave a surprisingly cold interview about the singer. When asked about whether she'd seen Rihanna since the VMAs in a TV interview, Katy said: "We’ve had dinner, and that’s about it, I didn’t reach out to her after the incident.
"I think she is doing fine. I don’t know. Her personal life has probably already been blown out of proportion. I don’t really have to go into that. I’m sure she probably want’s a break."
Unless they got drunk and snogged one time, it seems pretty clear that the incident was Chris-based.
And a source told this week's US magazine: "They aren't tight anymore because Katy doesn't approve of Rihanna dating Chris Brown."
But Rihanna's friends reportedly told the mag that RiRi didn't care whether Katy sat next to her at the Grammy Awards. They said: "Rihanna doesn't have a problem with anyone and could give a f*** about what anybody thinks about her relationship. She was focused on her and Chris and enjoying her night."
Not only did they sit apart, but Katy and Rihanna were pictured with pretty much every celebrity except for each other. There's definitely something going on here.
