Romeo and Juliet, Carrie and Big, William and Kate, Richard and Judy... and now we can add to the list surely the greatest love story of all time â€" Simon Cowell and Carmen Electra.

Smitten Simon confirmed the fairytale romance yesterday, gushing: “She’s not my girlfriend. We’re people who date,” before adding: “She’s adorable, isn’t she?”

Funnily enough, when Carmen was a guest judge on Britain’s Got Talent she was asked what she thought of Simon.

“He is adorable,” she said, proving that this is all completely ridiculous they are true soulmates, sharing an inspiring, pure love that was written in the stars.

So now we finally ­understand just why Simon has had so many girlfriends in the past.

He wasn’t the ladies’ man we all clearly totally believed that he was, but a true romantic on an honourable search for The One.

Now he’s found her AT LAST, it’s surely only a matter of time before Mrs Carmen Cowell starts popping out heirs to the throne.

In the wake of all 2012’s shock celeb splits (I mean, Tom and Katie â€" who could have seen that coming, eh?) it warms the heart to have a couple we can all believe in.

It goes without saying we wish the adorable pair all the luck in the world.
