Ron Atkinson evicted from Celebrity Big Brother: Former footy pundit jokes Lauren Harries makes more changes than Claudio Ranieri

Ron Atkinson evicted from Celebrity Big Brother: Former footy pundit jokes Lauren Harries makes more changes than Claudio Ranieri

Ron Atkinson has become the second housemate evicted from Celebrity Big Brother.

Asked by presenter Emma Willis how he felt to be out, the former Manchester United manager joked: "Relieved"

"There's a few in there that would swap places with me," he added.

The 74-year-old - who lasted ten days on the Channel 5 show - said that filling the hours in the house was the biggest challenge faced by contestants.

“When you are in there, there is a lot going on. At times there is a boredom factor.”

"Time drags on," he said.

Although Ron admitted that he hadn't seen much of the show before taking part - and it may be a few months before he realised that he did have fun - the former footy pundit said that he had enjoyed himself.

"There's been some good times - I had one of the best laughs of my life when Bruce slapped himself around the head with a fish," he chuckled.

Less fun was the incident in which Ron asked Danielle Marr whether she was “carrying a bomb wearing that towel” on her head.

A spokeswoman for Big Brother at the time said: "Ron made an unacceptable comment last night. He has received a formal warning."

Despite implying that he wasn't fussed about who had who voted for him, Ron did seem to take mild umbrage at Carol McGiffin nominating him - especially since she had picked him on the grounds he didn't help out with cooking.

"Can she chunter, by the way... What a gob on her!" he said.

"My cups of tea became legendary," he said in defence.

Ron also said that he was glad that fellow nominee Lauren Harries was still in there, despite her messiness annoying the rest of the housemates.

"She made more changes on the first day than Ranieri did at Chelsea," he joked, referring to her constant change of clothes.

Asked about his 'bromance' with Bruce Jones, Ron praised the former Corrie actor's humour.

“I like someone who has a great sense of humour, fun clever humour and he’s got that,” he said.

Ron also said that he'd give the red card to Sophie Anderton next.

Irish reality star Danielle became the first person to be evicted on Wednesday night.
