We have to say, we were a little shocked by Gary Barlow’s pretty childish put down of fellow judge Tulisa on Saturday’s X Factor, but we’re happy to report he has apologised.
On ITV2’s Xtra Factor he bowed down and said: “Can I apologise to Tulisa - I mean it. You have the freedom to be as personal as you like to me for the rest of the series - insult me."
Whether or not she’ll take him up on his offer remains to be seen (we can’t imagine she’s going to let him get off that lightly), but after he said sorry, she pointed out that he’d previously said he “loved†the smell of cigarettes because it reminded him of when he used to smoke. He confessed he had indeed said that and ad mitted that he’d had “a little sip†of red wine in his dressing room before the show.
It all kicked off during the live show following Gary’s act Christopher Maloney’s performance.
Tulisa criticised Gary as his mentor saying to Christopher: "I thought your vocals were very strong. But it gets to the point where I've kinda gotta stop having a go at you and let your mentor take some of the blame for this.â€
Turning to Gary she asked, "Gary, I have to ask you, how many of these 80s classics are you going to let him keep destroying?"
She continued: "Every week he's getting the same critique off all the judges, why not change it up for him? I even feel bad for him having to say the same thing to you each week, I don't think it's fair. It's not working."
Instead of answering the question mark on his professional judgement, he decided to make a rather personal remark: "Tulisa," he said, "I don't know what's offende d me more, what you've said or your fag-ash breath."
Cue Tulisa’s chin hitting the judging desk.
But she did come back with: “Just a note for Gary," she said. "Lay off the red wine because I can really smell that as well."
We can barely wait to hear what she’s got in store for him during Sunday’s elimination show…
