Frank Sinatraâs widow has branded Mia Farrowâs claims her son Ronan may âpossiblyâ have been fathered by the crooner a âbunch of junkâ.
Barbara Sinatra, who was married to the singer until his death in 1998, rubbished claims by the actress her late husband could be the 25-year-oldâs father despite splitting from Farrow 19 years earlier.
The 85-year-old widow described the revelation as âa phony dealâ.
She said: âI canât hardly believe that.
âItâs just a bunch of junk. Thereâs always junk written - lies that arenât true.â
Rumours about who Ronanâs father is have dogged the actress for years with many pointing to similarities in looks between the two men.
Farrow moved to address the issue in an interview with Vanity Fair saying the legendary singer was âpossiblyâ his father.
Ronan, now 25, has worked for Unicef and as a US State Department adviser since graduating from Yale Law School.
Yesterday he added to the speculation by tweeting: âListen, weâre all *possibly* Frank Sinatraâs son.â
During the interview Farrow, 68, described Sinatra as the great love of her life, adding: âWe never really split up.â
She married the singer in 1966 in Las Vegas when she was 21 and he was 50.
The marriage ended in 1968 as they argued over her refusal to drop her acclaimed role in Rosemaryâs Baby to star in a movie with him. He died 30 years later.
Mia, now 68, wed pianist Andre Previn in 1970. They adopted three children and had three of their own, then split in 1979.
She and Allen, now 77, started their relationship in 1980 but broke up twelve years later when she found he was hav ing an affair with her adopted daughter Soon-Yi, 22, who is now his wife.
Another adopted daughter Dylan, 28, also told Vanity Fair she is tormented by fear over her alleged abuse by Allen, who has always denied previous such claims by Mia.
